I may have hope
Adam and Eve
given free will
to serve and follow God
but chose
to be like God
Israelites wanted a king
like other nations
rejecting God as their sovereign
they persisted despite God’s warning
Samuel acceded at last
King Saul
chosen to be the first king
with the potential
to do God’s will
his will be done instead
Paul known as Saul
persecuted believers
thinking it’s God’s will
not until he met the risen Lord
at Damascus
How wise
is our God
in His foresight
I am forewarned
to forestall
Your word
is living
and much alive
speaking to my needs
now and then
Surly this is written
for my benefit
to deny myself
taking up my cross daily
and follow Christ
Lord, You truly understand
humans like us
You only want me to do it
one day at a time
Help me endure just for one day
So that the next day
I may declare confidently
Ebenezer ! Ebenezer!
