I'm sure you'll agree that the day your son or daughter was born represented a turning point in your life. The thrill of peeking through that hospital nursery window mirrors the passion God must feel when we are born again into His family…the excitement, the expectations, the genuine love poured out to both! Each event lead to an incredible freedom from the bondage of the womb to the chains of sin that allows us to experience a brand-new life in Christ. God's unseen hand pushes us into the world and reaches out to welcome us into His family.
As a result, God still sprinkles His amazing grace over numerous circumstances in our lives. Each day brings new challenges, whether it is struggling to pay bills, grieving over a loved one, or developing new talents…God is always there for us. His love sneaks through the maze of uncertainty to boost our morale. How many times do we receive unexpected gifts, a telephone call at just the right time, or a stranger comes to our aid? His loving grace is sufficient for all our needs.
From our baby steps to driving a car, people continually strive for independence and recognition…if only this energy focused more on Godly endeavors. In ages past, Paul Revere galloped through the streets of Concord, Massachusetts, shouting, "the British are Coming…" we need to shout to others that Jesus is Coming! John Hancock, President of the Continental Congress, signed the Declaration of Independence with a sincere "flourish," because He wanted to make sure King George could read it without his glasses on! Do we go the extra mile to set an example of Christ? Cheering crowds and tolling church bells greeted the reading of this historical declaration; how much more will the angels in heaven rejoice at even one who accepts God's liberty of love? Luke 15:10
Finally, as our physical bodies grow stronger, God's Word sustains and nurtures us until we are no longer babes in Christ, but mature, responsible Christians. We have discovered the Fountain of Life in Jesus Christ, (Psalm 36:9) and have the privilege of refreshing our spirits daily. What better companion could we have to fulfill our earthly dreams, as He waves the celestial flag of hope at the starting gate of life!
