Or a painted galaxy,
Shades of huckleberry blue
Fly in swirly, curly hues.
Periwinkle blues play tag
With the sky’s clouds as they drag;
Dignified delphiniums
Sport blue blossoms in the sun.
Vibrant tints in newborns’ eyes
Dance to music in disguise;
Nosegay posies in a bunch,
Huckleberry blues to touch!
Brother in a tantrum stew,
Holding breath ’til face turns blue!
Floating feather tickles chin—
Sibling fakes a blue-tinged grin.
Braided rug by rocking chair,
Treasured china, set with care;
Huckleberry blue’s deep tint
Tickles window’s cotton chintz.
Shutters close against a storm,
Ultramarine blue the norm;
Snugly kissing all the glass,
Promising relief that lasts.
One of many rainbow stripes,
Blues combine and soar on kites,
Robin’s egg in tree below,
Huckleberry blue shadowed.
Blue tails trailing down her waist,
Grandma’s gingham apron laced;
Bluebirds perch on windowsill,
Waiting for the crumbs ‘oft spilled.
Denim jeans thrown in the mix,
Branded socks in stacks of six;
Dressed in huckleberry blue,
All parading in full view.
Soldiers strut in formation—
Navy blues for their nation;
Football jerseys flash in spades
Royal blue their trusted shade.
Stately birds awake the dawn:
Peacocks sweep the private lawn;
Huckleberry blue-edged fronds
Grace the edges of the pond.
Bluebells dance in random space,
Nodding to the swimming place;
Blue-gray herons wade in view
Long toes gripping sandy brews.
Huckleberry blue night skies
Show up darkened muted dyes;
Up above, Uranus reigns,
Center bulging and blue-stained.
Baby, Royal, Sapphire, too
Ocean, Azure, Cayman blues;
China, Cobalt, and Marine,
Bold or vibrant or serene.
Master painter, God ordained
All blue hues across the plains;
Brushing all the universe,
Colors mixed up and diverse.
Huckleberry blue’s my choice
When it raises its bright voice;
Gingham chintz, seas or posies
Make me feel all warm and cozy.
Denim jeans with matching socks,
Robin eggs or bright peacocks;
Rainbows, planets, fronds or kites
Blues that reach out and excite!
But nothing else can satisfy
Like Huckleberry blue fruit pie!
