It’s an honor and blessing to be your friend. I was told that you didn’t want to be a part of this program, but so happy you’ve since changed your mind.
I can tell you that here in the USA; we sometimes take for granted the choices we’re given every single blessed day of our life. But, thankfully, most of us realize how blessed we are.
I hope in time, we’ll become close friends. We already have something in common, Jesus Christ, which is the biggest source of connection I can possibly think of. We live on the East coast, and right now we’re in the fall season.
I hope to hear from you soon, until then, you’re in my prayers.
Friends in Christ,
Cara

Dear Ma’am Cara,
I am reading your letter and I have smiled many times. I am happy to in this program, and like to hear from you more.
I am in tops in school, and really like the Bible studies the most of all school studies.
My mother works in the field, my father is gone. It is me and my mother only now. I help with chores, and cooking.
We have a goat to bring fresh milk to us, and we sell some of it to get food to eat.
My favorite Bible saying is -I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me- Philippians 4:13.
What is your favorite saying in the Bible Ma’am Cara?
What is your favorite color?
In Christ,
Tsega

Dearest Tsega,
It was so good to receive your letter. Friendship is so important in life.
Jesus showed so many examples of it throughout the Bible. And, in the Old Testament, I really enjoy all the stories, but the one that stands out is “Ruth.” She was so loyal as both a friend and loving companion to Naomi.
The end result was the blessings of the LORD, who brought them together for His will and purpose. Remember, eventually King David came from Ruth. She had Obed, who had Jesse, who had David.
Did you learn a lot about that story yet?
I’ve many favorites in the Bible; it’s hard to pick just one.
In Psalms, 119:105, “Your Word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path…”
My favorite color is Pink.
With Prayers and Love in Christ,
Cara

Dear Ma’am Cara,
I also did like Ruth, it was first sad, but then it made me smile. I was sad for Naomi who lost all of the sons and husband.
Mother and me know what it is like to have no friends, but I have Jesus. I am trying to learn mother about God, but she is tired and busy.
She said, you do what you want I am too busy to hear this stuff. So, I do not talk more on Jesus.
I learn English from a child here. I had English teacher from grade one and I try hard to learn. My English teacher said to me I am good with words, so that made me smile.
One day I want to be a teacher to help others. I want to be a Bible teacher also with English words. My favorite color is yellow, bright like the sunshine and Jesus.
I wait for your letter again, and it would be nice to meet you one day. I pray this happens soon. You make me smile big.
I pray for you every night Ma’am. I am going to work in the field tomorrow. I will write soon.
I love you, and send you hugs,
Tsega

Dearest Tsega,
I too pray we meet one day.
I’ll keep your mother in prayers. Never give up on her, and keep respecting her as God tells us in the commandments, “Honor thy mother and Father” - If God’s will is to touch her heart, it will happen.
Have faith, and never give up.
I got your picture today; you’re a beautiful young lady!
Your light shines through your beautiful eyes.
Your smile is like sunshine.
With Love & Prayers,
Cara

Dear Ma’am,
It is with great sadness to inform you, Tsega’s life was taken by a sniper.
She had her Bible you sent with your letters tucked inside the book of Psalms. She loved you.
She wrote inside her Bible, “Jesus is my best friend, and so is Ma’am Cara. I’m glad we will all be friends forever, Amen…”
