As spring arrives with soft refreshing showers,
And bulbs once buried in the cool of autumn
All dance together in a row of flowers.
Away with tree limbs wearing somber hues,
Their starkness dressed again with sleeves of green
In graceful robes of intricate designs
From yards and yards of loveliest sateen.
Away with pewter sun and clouds of gray.
Return to golden rays mid azure skies,
Where shrubs awake to find themselves besieged
By gossamer-winged pastel butterflies.
Away with ice in frozen stagnant streams,
Awakened by the flow of rushing waters
And sounds of peepers singing melodies
Mid splashing of some playful cubs of otters.
Away with snow that covers sleeping pansies
That suddenly display their purple faces,
While ornamental cherry trees and dogwood
Bring brilliant blooms to former dreary places.
Away with dearth of sound of happy birdsong
And welcome to the ever-trilling skylark
While children long imprisoned by bad weather
Have been set free to play in verdant parks.

I'm celebrating the awakening of the flowers from their restful sleep.
