I learned in Sunday school.
There our teachers taught us to
Obey the Golden Rule.
The things that I remember most
Were in the songs we sang.
The words of those first choruses
Act like a boomerang.
Most basic, elemental truth
I learned was Jesus loves me.
Because the Bible tells me so,
I’m just as sure as can be,
And not just me, but everyone.
We all to Him are precious.
Location and ethnicity
Don’t matter. He still loves us.
We found we must be careful
For what our lips will say.
The Father looking down in love
Can see us every day.
It’s vital that we build our faith
Upon a rock formation.
When down come rains and up come floods,
Then still will stand foundation.
To each of us God gives a light,
And we’re to let it shine.
To hide it or to let it die’s
Not part of His design.
Because God’s love’s a fountain
That’s flowing deep and wide,
Down in my heart, I’ve joy, joy, joy,
Which always will abide.
