"Do you have any water?"
Rivkah shook her head to a young child no older than five. The girl's huge brown eyes watched her through an encrusted mask of mud and sweat before being yanked away by an older woman in blue.
Rivkah huddled beneath the tattered blanket she'd found on the road. It was exceedingly difficult to escape the horrendous conditions in which she and other families lived.
All had one common thread...fleeing from sickening conditions. Each individual trying to reach a safe haven, all yearning to be part of a free world.
Rivkah lost her family in a senseless and horrific way. She was out in the field working at the time. When she returned home they were all gone. Mama, papa and her two baby brothers. There was no way she could've stayed behind. She'd have to reach a safe city, somehow. She knew that to remain would be to bring certain death or worse.
She'd been traveling for two long days and nights. She had to leave her beloved town to take up residence elsewhere. Her stomach ached so much. She couldn't remember the last time she'd felt such hunger. She realized that the blisters on her feet were nothing compared to the ones on her lips.
Tears managed to break free despite the fact she probably was dehydrated. She closed her eyes and recalled happier times, carefree days. She could still hear Mama's sweet voice. She saw her handsome Papa...and her darling little brothers running to her with open arms.
"Here have some."
Rivkah turned her face up toward the direction of the soothing voice.
"What?" Her voice was weak, it took a great deal of effort to answer.
The man squatted down near her. "Here take this and eat."
Rivkah couldn't understand what was happening to her body. A powerfully warm sensation began to caress her head before slowly cascading to her toes.
She took a bite of the bread and was instantly revived.
"Now take this water and drink...for those who drink from this water will never thirst again."
Rivkah looked at her feet which no longer had blisters. Her lips no longer caked dry nor covered with painful blisters and sores.
She bowed down and cried, "Master...oh my LORD! It is You!"
He smiled and helped her up. "You will see your family again one day in the future.. I promise you. Also, take comfort in this, you will be blessed with many children of your own. Truly, I say to you...when you eat my Father's daily bread, and drink from the living waters, you will live forever."
Rivkah cried, "When will I see you again my LORD?"
He touched her face so gently before answering. "I must go now to fulfill the scriptures...but you will see me again in my Father's house where I go to prepare a room for you."

"Mama, Mama!"
Her children's happy voices pulled her from her emotional reverie. Rivkah watched her four children running in the wide open field. Her husband waved from a distance.
Rivkah would never forget about that miraculous day during her arduous yet historic journey.
But most especially...she'd never forget the King of kings who gave her freedom and the gift of life forever more.
