Afford to fly,
Or hike for very far,
But you inspire a deep desire
To travel where you are.
Without delay I'll stow away
While you pack up your gear.
I sneak so well you'll never tell
That I am hidden here.
I do not care, yet wonder where
We next will stop to stay.
Where e'er we lodge, I'll duck and dodge,
A stealthy stowaway.
Will I soon be down by the sea,
Or scaling mountain trails,
Or sunlight fade in forest glade?
I mind not the details.
In castles old, or towers bold,
I'll try the local fare
Of "crumbs" to munch to make a lunch
Of morsels plain or rare.
Should you spot me you'd say "ugly,"
A tourist most despised.
You'd end my tour, for sure, for sure,
If I were compromised.
So go your way. I choose to stay,
Await another host,
And travel more, to towns galore
And countries coast to coast.
Though I am quite an ugly sight,
I do not wish you fright.
Good night,
Sleep tight,
So that you might
Be easier
To bite!
