Staring at the stock on shelf after shelf
So much is junk we should not consume
Yet fill our carts ‘till there’s no more room
Online shopping, convenient for sure,
But extreme indulging--what’s the cure
For too many gadgets, shoes and clothes,
The less fortunate need some of those
Larger houses, fancier new cars
Some even consider living on Mars
We’re not content with what God provides
Gluttons we are--it needs to subside
Fear-based ads promote drugs of all kinds
For whatever ails our bodies and minds
Announcements promising instant beauty
We buy their lies--but why--why do we
We overdo in gluttonous ways
It’s unhealthy in numerous ways
Trust God for your every provision
Ask His help when making decisions
Addictions, bad habits--He can curb
Surrender to Him how you’re disturbed
Give Him your hurts and pain-filled despair
Start each day with meaningful prayer
Resolve that less can really be more
Give your “don’t needs” to local thrift stores
Food banks can use each dollar you save
Those who hunger are thankful you gave
Too much can burden and cause some stress
Lighten your load for others happiness
If you’re urged to buy more than you need
Say “enough is enough” before you proceed
