Time stretched before me like a never ending adventure
Forever seemed possible, even probable
Giggles and friends, Mommy and Daddy to defend
What more could a child ask for?
The days became years, bringing new excitement, new fears
Decisions, school, relationships, heartache and joy
Still, time held little meaning, days started, days ended
Life stretched before me like a never ending journey
What more could a teenager ask for?
A wedding, parenthood, not enough hours in some days
Life’s adventure included others, time wasn’t mine alone
Do this, do that – run here, run there
Feeling stretched, feeling needed, feeling loved
What more could a young adult ask for?
Busy, busy, so much to do, no time to waste
Keep a calendar, mark it down, hurry, stop, rush around
Life is hectic, pulling me here and there, to and fro
At day’s end, the bed is my faithful friend
What more could an adult ask for?
Now in the autumn of life, time seems so precious
The days race by with the blink of an eye
Time marching on like the of a beat of a drum
I rejoice as each day begins, I rejoice as each day ends
The adventure will fade, the journey will end
What more could I ask for?
Would I ask for my time?
Only He numbers my days.

Beautiful.
God bless~
This seems more prose than poetry, but that's okay. I would have preferred the last stanza to follow the style of the others.
This poem invites the reader to read it again - to let the words sink in.
