Josie’s Gone Viral

Three-year-old Josie’s storytelling has gone viral.

On a Tuesday evening in January, as dinner was winding down, Josie decided to tell her father the story she’d learned in her Bible Study Fellowship class that morning about Paul and Silas in prison. She was attending the BSF children’s program for preschool children once a week while her mother participated in an adult class at the same time. Acts of the Apostles was the curricular focus for both children and adults, and this particular week’s lesson targeted Acts 16.

“Paul, and his friend … they were put in jail …” Josie explained to her father, and then went on to tell about the violent earthquake that shook-shook-shook, and shook-shook-shook some more, and Paul’s miraculous release.

Josie’s mother recorded the 4-minute, well-articulated story and posted it on YouTube. Within hours it had hundreds of hits, then over a thousand, then fifteen hundred.

Although it is not typical for videos to be shown in BSF classes, Josie’s story was aired in her mother’s home adult class of approximately 400 women and at least one other class of similar size. A representative from BSF’s International Headquarters contacted Josie’s mother asking permission to use the video in future training seminars. We learned later that the link was posted on BSF’s Facebook page for teaching leaders all over the world to see.

With no clue for the scope of her influence, Josie became a celebrity almost overnight. She’s my granddaughter, and here’s a link to her now-famous video:
