Far fairer than faint sight beholds;
Earth’s great and grandest can’t compare
Nor human genius can declare
Truth Spirit-quickened to the soul.
The Spirit has the Father’s mind,
The deepest mysteries unveils;
Without His life we’re walking blind,
In carnal bonds our hopes confined;
The day will come when mortal fails.
The heart of man with hopes earthbound
Sets all its store on things below;
The day they put him in the ground
With speeches grand and looks profound
Where will his soul and spirit go?
The man of faith has set his sights
Where Christ’s prepared for him a home;
His gaze is fixed on Heaven’s heights
Where night and day his soul delights
In worship at the Father’s throne.
High hopes in ransomed hearts aflame
Who see beyond the mortal sphere
By faith they know the One who came
Will very shortly come again—
The footsteps of their Lord they hear.
Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might know the things that have been freely given to us by God. I cor 2:12 nkjv.
