Of this glorious era; none else can compare.
My viewpoint is priceless; I stand at the throne
And watch how Jehovah has blessed Solomon.
When Yahweh appeared in his Gibeon dream
And asked him to state his desire most supreme,
The youth cried out from the depths of his heart,
“Oh, give me the wisdom You alone can impart.”
Because God was pleased with the choice of this youth,
He blessed him with riches and honor, forsooth.
And promised that if he’d but walk in His ways
A long life He’d give him with peace all his days.
God answered his prayer; this king is renowned
For his wisdom amongst all the nations around.
And even in Sheba a queen has been told
Of his wisdom, and power, and plentiful gold.
Today her arrival has stirred up the court
And rumors are racing her mighty escort.
She’s coming with camels and spices and men,
With gemstones that sparkle like dew in the glen.
Behold, she is here! I gaze through cat eyes
At a moment in time that I long to apprise.
At the foot of the great ivory throne she has kneeled
And offered her gifts while her soul has appealed
To this sovereign to hear her and be so inclined
To answer hard questions that trouble her mind.
A moment of silence. I only can freeze
And watch the king’s face from my view by his knees.
A keen glance he throws toward the form at his feet;
Then rises with splendor and leaves his high seat,
Descends the six steps, ‘til beside her he stands,
To give her the honor her presence commands.
Away they are walking through Lebanon halls;
Perhaps they will visit the steeds in their stalls.
For Solomon’s horses are glorious indeed;
Renowned is that noble Egyptian breed.
Beyond all his ships and his servants and riches,
I’m as sure as I am that my tail never twitches,
He’ll show this fine queen the ascent he has trod
To enter the glorious temple of God.
But wait, they return! She has more words to speak;
She thinks that this kingdom is something unique.
She once was a skeptic, but now she concedes
That reality all the grand rumors exceeds.
As she stands with her palm resting on my gold mane,
She turns to the king that does currently reign,
“For love of His people your God placed you here
In this marvelous era it’s all very clear.
“Your servants delight in your words all the day;
My heart’s sole response is, ‘Blessed be Yahweh’.”
