“Hello there chair!” yells your shin!
Drop a hammer on your toe?
Want the world to know your woe?
Just say, “OWW!”
The simple word you can allow
And those around will always know
The pain’s beyond the status quo.
Just say, “OWW!”
Take a scalding sip of tea?
Lose a contest with a bee?
Blinded by a photo shoot?
(Few there are that keep it mute.)
Just say, “OWW!”
The simple word you can avow
That always serves you in a pinch
And wraps the pain up like a cinch.
Just say, “OWW!”
Touch a corner of the grill?
Walk across a red anthill?
Suck a gnat into your lung?
Don’t just stand and bite your tongue!
Just say, “OWW!”
The simple word for here and now
That always helps you to endure;
Now pinch yourself just to be sure,
Then say, “OWW!”

But you put a smile on my face and wiped my baby tears.
It felt like you should recite this to the kids in my 1st and and 2nd grade Sunday School class, and then we could easily discuss the spiritual application of pain.
