He also spoke to me
I must confess, the purpose of
His plan is hard to see
To take away your eyes’ delight
To strike a mortal blow
To lead me down a different path
A road you cannot go
I think I have the better part
My grief I could not hide
I could not keep my bitter tears
Locked away inside
To not lament, or gently weep
It is too much to ask
Can any man, the Lord has charged
Be ready for this task?
My pride would wish a tear shed
A loud and mournful cry
A shout to mark my passing not
A soft and private sigh
Your road ahead may often be
A dark and brooding place
With moments when you can’t recall
The contours of my face
I leave my laughter in your heart
My smile to lift your way
My presence walking by your side
In each and every day
I have to boast that I will see
What only you can dream
And dance beneath His radiant light
The King who reigns supreme
Inspired by Ezekiel 24:15-18
