It entertains, and gives me information through my nights and days.
While sleeping, it will keep a log of every breath and every snore.
It wakes me with a musical alarm I simply can't ignore.
I love the calendar that helps me organize my busy life.
I love the tools to research every passing whim, with which it's rife.
I love that translating and learning languages are right at hand.
I love that I can listen to the music of my favorite band.
When bored or waiting, from abundant options I can choose a game,
(Albeit I have to admit that most of them are pretty lame),
But some, supposedly, will sharpen my dexterity or brain,
Though if I am not careful that they're free, my funds will swiftly drain.
It gives me turn by turn directions for each place I wish to find,
Would even fly and monitor a drone for me, if I were so inclined.
My fridge will send a list of what is out or low for me to buy.
The thermostat inquires whether I want heat turned down or high.
For breakfast, lunch, and dinner there are endless recipes to cook,
And when the meal's over, I can curl up and read a book.
It helps me track my health, my exercise, my heart rate, and my weight,
Then dims the lights and soothes me with the sounds of waves when it is late.
I don't know how I lived without it just a few short years ago,
Sometimes I wake from nightmares where it's lost or stolen screaming "No!"
Sometimes there's interruptions that disturb my tasks and make me groan.
Say what! You think that I should answer it, because it is a phone?
