"Come on in Jim," Alicia's mom answered.
"Hello Marie, I've got a huge beauty right here on ice." Jim was proud of his prize as evidenced by his huge lip-splitting-grin. He held the plastic bag with its contents, high over his head for the longest time, while pointing to a huge fish lying atop a chunk of ice.
"Wow, that's a big fish!"
"Yup! This is the second biggest of the ten I caught. My wife is cutting up the other little suckers as we speak. So, here you go, enjoy."
Alicia stood silently observing the imprisoned catch. Her mom was oblivious of her daughter's deer-in-the-headlights-stare. She continued preparing the family meal while chatting on the phone.
"What's wrong Princess?"
"Daddy, look at the poor fish."
"Jim returned huh?" He watched his daughter's tears streaming, "Baby, what's wrong?"
She pointed at the bag and answered with quivering lips, "He's suffering."
"Sweetheart, he' not alive..."
"Daddy look!" She screamed, "See, he's moving!"
Her father looked and sure enough, the fish was opening and closing its mouth, gasping for air. "Oh, so he is." He looked at the fish then his daughter and without hesitation asked, "Want to take a ride to the lake and release him?"
She jumped straight into her father's arms, "Yes daddy! Let's go!"
Her mother hung up the telephone and asked, "What's going on?"
"Darling, change in plans. Do me a favor, “he kissed his wife before saying, "pick an alternate entree tonight, please." He winked and smiled.
"I don't understand..."
"We have to return this little fellow to his home...we'll be back soon."
Alicia grabbed her coat and turned to speak, "Come on daddy, hurry."
The ride to the lake was spent with Alicia praying aloud, "Oh please God, don't let him die. We know he's out of water, and a fish out of water can't live... but keep him safe until we take him home. Please."
Her father stopped the car and grabbed hold of the bag, "Okay honey, it's time to release this guy..."
"Noah."
"Noah?"
"Yes, he's probably related to one of the fish from so long ago on Noah's ark. So, I've named him Noah."
"That' great honey. Okay, before we release Noah, anything you'd like to say to him?"
"Goodbye Noah, go be with your family. Thank God for Daddy who brought you home again. Bye."
Her father opened the bag, and released Noah into the lake. At first, he floated on his side—and so they thought it might have been too late—until Alicia cried out, "Oh look, Daddy...he's swimming away!"
They both clapped their hands, and then her father scooped her up in His arms.
"Happy Princess?"
"Yes, now that Noah is back in the water and back home...I wanna go home too. I'm starving!"

True Story: My father epitomized Christianity and represented the love of our Father in heaven in so many ways. I could write about my dad all day long and still have more to tell. This particular day is one of many memories that I’ve stored in my heart. I miss him and know we'll meet again in the future.
The Lord blessed me with a kind, compassionate, and loving dad, and for that, and so much more, I thank God every single day of my life.
