Nobody knew who started the thing
But wherever one went, another would bring
An additional idea, to add something new
And the spiralling vision so rapidly grew.........

Committees sitting
Never such
A city high
To reach God’s Heaven
And touch the sky
Dreamy plans
Evolving, treasuring
Architectural
Weighing, measuring
Builders bustling
Through the crowds
Tower reaching
Misty clouds
Watch, observe
The plan to build
By self-made might
And purpose skilled
A ziggurat
To far surpass
All others
That may crumble fast
The great dimensions
So to claim
Illustrious and
Eternal fame
With names inscribed
In history
A monument
For all to see........


Nobody knows one identity,
No name is recorded for any to see,
No-where is left one drawing, one plan,
No fine measured scales of e’en one single man.

Lord, teach me to measure the days that you give,
Teach me and show me the right way to live,
Only one life, and how soon that will pass
Teach me, what’s done for Jesus will last.

I enjoyed your poem and its message. I particularly liked the long, short-lined stanza which I think was the best part. Well done.

I love your poem here (we had the exact same idea this week). You've created a fine-tuned exquisite piece very creatively written. I think you've got this exactly right with the message concerning man making a name for himself. I so enjoyed reading this! (and I love that you used the word "ziggurat" too).
