The evening news captures my mind
and murders The Whatsoevers
Especially the True
It all fell through
the opposite of Honest.

The talking heads are outraged
at crimes against humanity
Especially the Just
Who've no one to trust
and did they mention Pure?

I've learned things I'd never known
without the evening news
Especially that Pure
Has failed to endure
and pursues a pseudo Lovely.

The leaders we all know as Good
(formally known as Bad)
Have redesigned the code
and placed a heavy load
upon the illusive Good Report.

I suppose that it must be told
About a new drug on the market
The results are rather gory
a painful, gruesome story
that rivals any Praise.

My neighbor has a soldier son
who risks his life each day
with much to fear
But do we hear
praises of his Virtue?

The Whatsoevers vie for space
inside my seeking mind
But after all the current news
I'm weighted down and have the blues
Just how much do I need?

Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. (Philippians 4:8, KJV)

Great and prolific entry. I especially liked the "soldier" mention. So very true. Thank you.
