She decided to go into costumed villainy after her boyfriend, a minor hero known as Mr. Awesome, broke up with her, after telling her he needed to spend more time helping people in his costumed identity. She thought about what she could become and decided on Nurse Terror.
It wasn't far from what she heard at work anyway. She dressed in a black old fashioned nurse's dress with a blood red cross over her breast and on the nurse's cap he incorporated into her mask. She started small, robbing a few small banks. In the grand tradition of supervillian mockery, she threatened to give her victims a shot. Only she never told anyone what was in the syringes.
One cloudy afternoon she was robbing an armored car when Mr. Awesome decided to stop her new career as his arch-nemesis.
She pulled out her syringe and said, mockingly, “Well, Thomas, perhaps it is time your vaccinations were up to date.”
She then laughed, “You know I know how to inject you where it will hurt. And after being involved for two years I know everything about how to hurt you. These extra sharp titanium needles will even go through your skin.”
He drew back sharply and with his chin lifted heroically declared, “Nurse Terror, I don’t know what vile concoction you have but you know I am resistant to poisons and diseases. So do your worst!”
As confidant as he was in his powers and as confidant as Tara was in her biology skills, neither of them really wanted to test the other’s limits. She and he knew that it was going to be a war of words until one of them gave up. As she really needed the money from the armored car to pay off her loan that she took out when she began to finance her supervillian career.
“Thomas, I know you won’t hit a woman, part of that heroic idealism you profess. So I can inject you with a strong mix of chemicals that even you would have trouble resisting
She then drew out several more syringes, each containing a sinister looking liquid, and snarled at Thomas, “You know my expertise with organic chemistry and after two years you’ve told me enough about your powers, braggart, that it was child’s play to create something to get past your defenses.”
“Braggart!” He shouted back at her “I was hoping you would appreciate me more if I confided in you.”
As he flexed his fists to rush the Nurse and take her syringes
away, she smiled at him. “Appreciate you? You have to be the most conceited hero in the country. I presumed you were interested in me just for my looks and figure. Eye candy. Not that you appreciated emotionally me in the least. Until I figured out your secret I presumed you were extremely vain bragging on about how important your career was.”
She knew she was goading him to make a rash move so she could easily inject any of her potions into him.
Then she heard a voice from the armored car, “Youse two, gonna stand there and argue all day or what?”
She realized she needed to take down Mr. Arrogant, and get back to robbing the car before her victim drove away with all that nice money. She fired her syringe gun at Thomas and at point- blank range she knew she wouldn’t miss. He moved faster than she had thought possible and as he evaded her attack he let loose with a typical heroic boast, in his bass voice “Fear not, good citizen, her cowardly attack has failed and with me to protect you, you can go about your business.”
As the armored car left, the driver shouted through the window, “Thanks, Mr. Awesome!”
He reached for her again, saying in a voice too low for anyone else to hear, “I want you to know, my beautiful enemy, if you still love me I will wait for you to be released from prison. After all what sane woman wouldn’t want to be loved by Mr. Awesome.”
As he placed restraints on her wrists and emptied out her pockets, and unmasked her , she looked at him with contempt and stated, “Seriously, you think I am interested in a loud-mouth tough guy? You’re delusional!”
