“I want to be known as a nice guy with a cruel streak.”
I found this quotation among my late first husband’s college essays.
I should have been forewarned.
I am expressing many mannerisms and emotions to show the maelstrom many of us are caught up in as hopeful newlyweds expecting each other to bring love and joy to their marriage tables.
This is very stark and graphic, without hope when we are without Jesus, the Christ.
Prove this yourselves. Take all the above descriptive adjectives and add to or subtract what you have experienced in your marriage/marriages.
With Jesus, we have so much more. Husbands love their wives as Christ loves His Church, wives love and respect their husbands.
Without Jesus we experience the torments of Hell. We have no security, no understanding, no genuine love to give to each other.
I am blessed by God to have my precious best friend as my husband. I am working on loving him more each day. The return investment of love and faithfulness is God-blessed.
Do you dare to compare?
A love song to my hubby:
Honeymooning
Remember the ranch,
the fresh open air?
We learned to pile slash,
once set it afire.
Laughing and singing
with nary a care.
So silly in love, we never felt tired.
We fished in the “gravel pit”, chasing the flies.
We lived in a trailer, with a sheepherder’s stove.
We played with tame horses
with wild rolling eyes.
We forgot the computer, the commute in the morn.
Stars studded on velvet,
desert dark sights -
night sounds of crickets
invading our dreams.
Love was our blanket to
warm up cold nights
as fat cows plodded past –
contented old queens
A smelly outhouse held
catalogues many
for reading and wiping
and holding our noses,
Far from the trailer
'specially when raining.
walking the cow path,
the memory echoes.
We sledded on an
old car hood made "new" -
engulfed in our snowsuits
laughing like fools.
The cows and the horses
would stare at us too,
watching the newcomers
break all the rules.
Fresh snow brought in
to heat water for baths
you painstakingly gathered, heated for me -
a wee bit of crawl in
was all that we had,
somehow it seemed like
what Heaven should be.
I could wash my hair,
And make angels in snow
And snuggle with you,
and enjoy being flirty.
I look back on our lives
started so long ago -
Praising GOD for HIS love
And yours, sweet Michael
For forty-one years . . .

This is different, unique and bang on topic. I'm not surprised to learn who the author is though. I wonder why? Ha! Great job!
Your love song to your man was beautiful.
Hope you shared it with him!
And, I pray for many more years of bliss for the two of you.
God bless~
