Crushed, alone, heart unfeeling,
Heavy sorrow wounds the soul,
Faint cries stream from deep within,
Oh, where is God? Is He there?
Does He know, or does He care?
Anger surges, lashing out
Demands an explanation;
Trembling flesh seeks a reason
For the loss and senseless pain.
Oh, where is God? Is He there?
Does He know, or does He care?
In time, the tears overflow,
Sadness spilling, hurts exposed,
Loneliness and needs laid bare.
A desperate call ascends,
Oh, where is God? Is He there?
Does He know, or does He care?
Seeking relief for sorrow,
Solace for the weary heart,
Faintly sensing words of love,
Flickering hope ignites a flame.
Where are You, God? Are you there?
Do You know, or do You care?
In the quiet His voice speaks,
Not to explain, but to heal.
By words alive with sweetness
All unanswered thoughts are stilled.
Is it You, God? Really there?
Do You know, Lord? Do You care?
Accepting the unexplained,
Embraced in His strength and love,
His strong presence satisfies,
Hushing all the deep unknowns.
Oh yes, my God, You are there.
You always know and always care.

“Hear my cry, Oh God; Attend to my prayer.
From the end of the earth I will cry to You,
When my heart is overwhelmed;
Lead me to the rock that is higher than I.
(Psalms 61:1, 2 NKJV)
