A high-wire act blindfolded without a net
A lion tamer locked in a cage, without whip
A circus clown with a smile upside down.
No direction, no power, no pleasure
For some faith is a carnival:
A funhouse with mirrors, afraid to break glass
A prize that you won, not worth the money or task
Lost on the Midway, in a crowd alone all day.
No depth, no value, no salvation
Consider Eve, the first woman:
She embraced an unseen child
And traced the tapestry of his frame inside the veil of her womb.
She mapped her future with eyes of faith
Consider the first electrician:
He did not fully understand the power harnessed and sent
He imagined the invisible currents of energy
He flew his kite, and weathered the storm of faith
A skeleton without flesh
A bird without wings
A forest without leaves
A mountain held under sea
A king without his crown
A maiden without a promise
We are all naked and in peril without faith.
And if faith is the evidence not seen, it nonetheless has vision.
