My canvas stares at me:
“I hope to sing through color,
Perform a proud soliloquy.”
Plum shadows cast,
A rising sun
Depict a day
That’s just begun.
Naked, white, and waiting,
My canvas stares at me:
“I could be your masterpiece
Not just a simple entity.”
Strokes of jade,
Dabs of blue,
A sea of churning shades and hues.
Naked, white, and waiting,
My canvas stares at me:
“Why not try a tinted bath-
Paint over my indignity?”
Lips in cherry,
Cheeks in rose,
A child’s chubby pink kissed toes.
Naked, white, and waiting,
My God looks down on me,
Perceives my need for color
To cover my despondency.
Green eyes see,
Red heart to love,
Ears to hear gold words above.
Naked, white, and waiting,
My canvas waits for him
To caress me with crimson
And cover all my sin.
My canvas,
In Creator’s light,
Progresses toward a purer white.
