The cold dark scent of the graveyard mounds brought me to my senses as I stumbled up the pathway toward moms newly dug grave! She is gone and all the things she loved in life are still here! You can't take one thing with you when you go except that "you" inside that shell.
I could not hold back the tears as I stood there in that dark lonely place! The only thing left of all the beautiful flowers was a wreath that said, “MOM” made of red and white roses, and standing inside was a tiny green angel. The tears erupted like Mt. St. Helens, and all the coldness of the snow and ice invaded my weary bones! I dropped to my knees and just laid flat across the top of the newly dug grave! The icy snow penetrated my face and added a new numbness to my brain! I didn’t care! Who cares?
I closed my eyes and cried like a baby, “mom, mom why did you have to leave me; I can’t go on without you! Oh please come back and get me, take me to where you are”.
At that moment this voice out of nowhere was talking to me. This little tiny angel had come to life; there she stood so beautiful in her long flowing blond hair. It covered her all the way to her feet! Her face was the color of a silk white rose; Her lips were a rosy peach. Her smile lit up the heavens, winter turned to summer and streaks of sun invaded the snow filled day! Her long silken gown was emerald green and blowing with the March winds!” Honey, why do you cry? We all have to die, but with the death, joy comes in the morning, and real life begins.
Then she said, “honey, would you like to see”? Please dry your tears come fly away with me! She cradled me in her arms and off we flew thru the skies of March. We went flying over the gates inside the valley of everlasting life. The crystal river flowed gently thru the center of the city. We walked along the bank hand in hand, and then she said, “let’s wade”. Without saying a word, I slipped off my old wore out rebooks, she took my hand, and the crystals of life swirled around my body, cool, cleansing, refreshing but yet warm and alive!
The light from the center of the city called my name, I could not look upon the light, the brightest of it out weighed all of the would be night. The light said, “Come closer Mary”: Could I endure the light? I had never seen such bright. There were people everywhere in long white robes.
I saw a table spread with food and there was no end to the table, it was spread across a golden sky. There was celebrating everywhere, singing, shouting, and praising the Lord. All the families gathered together, it was the family of the Lord, all different colors and race had come together in one place and at the head of the table sat the King of Kings and Lord of Lords!
Then I saw them, there they were, my family, there was grandma Louiza all beautiful and young, the smile on her face outshined the sun. There was my baby brother who had died when I was five, how handsome he is all grown up and alive. They were all gathered around, generation after generation,
and my heart did overflow with joy unspeakable.
I ask the pretty angel, I just had to know, “please tell me, where is momma, where did momma go”? And then she pointed her finger over to the right, “why honey don’t you know, she’s in line to get a crown”. Then I looked and saw her, all dressed up in all that white, the stones on her crown were sparkling like white diamonds in the night.
Then she flew right to me swishing through the air, she took my hand and held me close, and whispered, “I love you"! Then she said, "honey, go back home to daddy and tell him “I made it through", and when all life’s trials are over, I'll be here waiting for you”!
