And howls a beast's refrain.
A cold moon sinks in storm-tossed waves
Which spray the windowpane.
The blackest black, Stygian hue,
Leaves little to be seen,
Except for nightmare fantasies
And creatures haunting dreams.
Inside a light burns cozily
And sheds a cheery glow.
It holds at bay the midnight beasts
And turns to warmth the cold.
The Light is You inside my heart,
Like fingers in a glove.
The tapping wind and dark rain are
The world without your love.
I hold in hand my sweet bouquet
of blossoms, once mere buds.
My wedding gown is spotless,
Washed by Your sinless blood.
The marriage supper is prepared.
His guests will eat no crumbs.
The wise will shout with joyful cries,
"He comes! The bridegroom comes!"
My lamp is lit with You inside
To show the Way above,
To overcome the darkness of
This world without Your love.
"Let the Spirit and the bride say, Come." Rev. 22: 17 KJV
