And Heaven peeps through
There—
And there—
And again, over there!—
I try to count the sparkles
But lose my way
In the thousands.
Can I claim the jewels of the night?
I reach my hand,
But I cannot touch them;
I stretch my heart,
But I cannot feel them—
Dare I chase them?
Dare I jump?
Dare I stretch my wings
And try to fly,
To risk my soul
In the utter blackness
Of space?
I see a hole in the sky
And Heaven calls through
There—
And there—
Again, and again—
Billions of promises
Singing to me.
Billions of whispers of love
And murmurs of hope.
Dare I chase them?
Dare I risk my soul?
Dare I fling my heart
Within the infinite expanses
Of the unknown
And the unknowable?
A billion stars cry out my name
A billion sparkles beckon me;
With a smile I spread my wings—
I dare.
