Ah... but for the good old days when murder was done for lesser issues, such as honor and religious faith. Still get those people, though mostly Arabian males who follow one of the false faiths I have planted on Earth. It used to be done even in supposedly Christian nations. Really enjoyed the days of the Spanish Inquisition, but as I mentioned, people are closer to my enemy now.
I attended one of my weekly meetings with God. It galls me that I can't run free, that I need to check every move I want to make just like I did in the times when God was inspiring humans to write His Word. Well, having to run my plans past God, has inspired me to be more creative.
His voice thundered throughout His throne room. “I suppose you are here, Lucifer, to see what you are going to be allowed this year on Halloween.”
It was not a question, but I responded anyway, “No, God, nothing I haven’t done in years past. I have a wonderful bit of fun planned with the United States this year, though, that will last into the next several years.”
Jesus, sitting on His Father’s right side, taking a break from advocating for sinners who placed their trust in Him, interrupted my nascent presentation. “What do you want to do with their election?” Spoilsport.
“Well, they have two candidates from their major political groups, and two from minor groups. Personally, I would love to pull a major upset and have the Americans vote one of the minor candidates into office. One loves the creation over the Creator, and the other supports widespread legalization of mind altering drugs. You know I can get more souls if either of those wins.”
I paused for an instant, then the Holy Spirit took the opportunity to interject His thoughts. “And getting more souls away from the Father advances the goal you stated a month ago of getting fussy about getting a "better quality" of sinners.”
Again, not exactly a question, more of a clarification.
So I answered, “See that’s the problem with goody two shoes like the three of You. Not enough imagination. If we let one of the two major parties win, then we, or at least I, will have opportunities for the next four to eight years. It will be fun, with each side believing their candidate will have the chance to claim the votes were somehow rigged. I’ll have riots in the streets, people injured or killed.”
I was aware I was drooling on His floor, but were He fussy about the smell of sulfur in His throne room, He could cut me loose to do what I want. I didn’t care which human won. Neither of them had fully given their lives to God, as far as I could tell, so I’ll get them in due time.
I flipped my lucky piece of silver, one I got from Judas, and said, “Trump. I can get Clinton’s supporters to riot, disrupt the government, and act with extreme rudeness.”
God made a sound akin to a sigh. (He doesn’t need to breathe after all.) “Very well. You may have a Trump win.” He looked to His side and issued instructions to His Son and Helper. “The two of You will remind my saints that I have the final say on the world’s rulers.”
Permission granted, I have to get the media worked up, so when their anointed candidate loses, there will be wailing and gnashing of teeth, and Trump supporters worked up, so when Captain Carrot starts to act more "professional", they will get angry that he's ‘breaking his promises’. Yes, I'm having a blast planning the particulars of what sins will keep things in turmoil.

A different piece but well written.
You gave me a lot to ponder about this week.
