I struggled through each day with no end in sight. The more I tried, it seemed as if I never quite hit the mark. I was slowly withdrawing into my own little world, and then something happened that changed my life forever.
I was introduced to a total stranger, and low and behold before I knew it, this stranger became my confidant. I could talk to my new friend about all my problems, and have no fear that others would find out what we had discussed.
My family noticed I no longer walked around with my head down dragging through each day. I was no longer discouraged and lost. I had a spring in my step, and for the first time in my life I smiled at others.
Whenever depression was knocking at the door I’d meet with my new found friend and we’d talk. It didn’t matter if it was early in the morning or late at night, my confidant was always able to meet with me.
Life was no longer a drag, because my confidant had offered me hope. Who is my confidant? He offers me encouragement when my heart is in my shoes. There is a song called, ‘He Touched Me.’ The first verse says it all.
Shackled by a heavy burden,
‘Neath a load of guilt and shame.
Then the hand of Jesus touched me,
And now I am no longer the same.
He is my best friend, my Savior, my heart, mind, body and soul. His encouragement is the only one that is genuine. He touched me and made me whole.
The one verse in scripture I dearly love is Luke 11:9-10. “So I say to you: Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened.”
I was once known as Hopelessness, but now I’m called Hope. “But those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. The will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not grow faint.” Isaiah 40:31

Be careful to double check other pieces of works to see if the writer still owns the copyright. Although it may be okay to use a line from a lengthy book as long as you give credit to the author, song lyrics can be trickier. Many hymns are in the public domain but you should always check and include the name of composer. (I did google it. The song was written by Bill Gaither and the family appears to still hold the copyright) Also include the version of the Bible you are using ex. KJV, NIV, etc.
I loved how you took me into the deep recesses of this MC's mind. I wanted to wrap my arms around her, hug her and assure her that many people do indeed care.
