When I think back to this particular time in my life it was a leaning experience for me, and an adventure that drew me ultimately closer to my Lord.
My son had been married to an angelic tiny child of God for 16 years, and the Lord called her home which tore my heart out, because this was a marriage made in heaven. In all my years of living I have never witnessed that kind of love and devotion in such a young couple. Little Bit, as we affectionately called her could not have children, which saddened all of us, but that is part of life.
Two years after her death he met and married his second wife, and that is the beginning of a new journey down the road of my life. It has been a learning experience for all concerned.
My son and his new wife were looking for their niche in life, and I in the meantime was praying they would find a church made for them. I prayed and prayed, and still no church did they find, but time passed and God blessed me with my first grandchild at age 65. I was ecstatic to say the least.
I was saddened also, because my husband died four months after their marriage in October of 2004, but he knew he was going to be a grandfather, and we were both so happy. I have learned to lean on God for strength in all things, but it wasn’t always easy.
After the loss of my husband I continued to pray that my son and his wife would find a church that would become the corner stone of their marriage. I have never prayed so long, and so hard for just one thing in my life. I was beginning to wonder as the years passed about them ever finding a church.
After four years of persevering, and knocking on the doors of heaven my strength was gone. I was starting to doubt, and I was losing hope when all of a sudden out of the clear blue my son called me, and told me they had found a church. I was elated. I jumped up and down, crying, dancing around the house, and praising God for answering my prayers.
The lesson God taught me was one of perseverance. To hang in there and trust Him. To earnestly seek my Master with ALL my heart, and never give up or quit. I have learned that His timing is not my timing, and God will work things out for the best of all concerned. He is timeless, and for that I thank Him. As a matter of fact I now trust Him implicitly, and set back while watching all the miracles He has blessed me with each and every passing day.
“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened.” Matthew 7:7-8.
