Well, first, chicks are sold in the springtime. This is because they do not lay eggs until they are around 20 weeks old. If you buy chickens between the months of March and April, then they should start laying in late August or early September.
Once you have your chicks, it does not matter how many you have whether it is three, six, or sixteen or three dozen, you will discover one thing they do all the time --- they TALK! It starts when they are very young. We bought four Americauna chicks last year in the spring and they were chirping when we brought them home and they were only three days old. And they were chattering all the way home.
They are always cheeping and cheeping and cheeping. It never stops. It does not matter what is going on around them. They cheep, chirp and nonstop talk.
They talk when they are sitting; they talk when they are walking around foraging in the backyard. They talk when they are roosting. Should another hen get in a hen’s favorite nesting area, you would think the world had just ended the verbal explosions that pour forth, it’s probably a good thing, and I’m NOT conversant in “HENSPEAK!”
But boy, oh boy, you should hear the one hen who just laid an egg. The level of cackling, as she runs down the ramp and announces to the world al large that she has worked a miracle and laid her own egg!!!
Yes, it may seem very much like “Much Ado About Nothing, we do know it is not a miracle, but we are grateful for the fact that we have not had to buy eggs from the store, since last September, and I do feel a little closer to God’s Creation, having lived with Chickens and chicks for the past year. And now we are raising a second flock of baby chicks!

I'm really pleased that those chicken do not subscribe to that concept.
An enjoyable read, on a very endearing (if somewhat unusual matter)subject.
Punctuation made it a bit difficult to read in a few places, but I made it safely through to the other side. Besides, after posting my article under this week's topic, I discovered errors, too. I guess we should both better edit our work before sumitting, huh?
I never knew that din meant noise. Thank you.
Remain blessed,
