“Ask and it shall be given you.”**
Promises claimed as the prayer is made;
Tears shed—year after year
Waiting and wondering—
Searching the heart for hidden sin,
Hope almost gone.
Does God really care?
Damning silence.
Walking away from the throne of God—head bowed low
If God loved me, He would hear my prayer.
“The eyes of the Lord are upon the righteous and his ears are open unto their cry.”***
Then out of the blue—
Just when all seems lost, the answer comes—
Comes from a different direction.
A total surprise!
My heart leaps for joy!
God really does care!
Why did I ever doubt?
My God is faithful and true.
My eyes are bright; there’s a spring in my step.
Such joy and relief I’ve never known.
“Hope deferred maketh the heart sick:
But when the desire cometh, it is a tree of life.”****
Lord, next time I pray
Help me to remember.
