favorite questions
to ask when I was young
and growing up
oh so long, long ago…
And believe you me --
I had many questions to ask
and reask again and again
and again until my parents
could no longer take the strain
Of my many rich and
assorted refrains.
But this one question
has always stayed on to
elude, bemuse and confuse.
It resides, in the uppermost reaches
Of the grey matter inside my head.
Or is that “graying” matter?
On the other hand does it really matter?
What am I nattering on about?
Of what am I trying to give an account?
But isn’t that just the heart and soul of it?
One may ask, seek, and inquire.
But how does one honestly and
fully know even in this present
age of satellites, computers,
twitters, tweets and cell phone beeps.
How does one ever know if
all the words and ideas one says are
heard and understood as one
hears them in one’s head.
I Corinthians 2:9 -- But as it is written:
“Eye has not seen, nor ear heard,
Nor have entered into the heart of man
The things which God has prepared for those who love Him.”
(NKJV)
