I treasure sweet release
I gain richness with time I spend
Hours of craved writing, seize!
Brimming passions- my writer’s soul
Welled from within deep love
Glimpses of the heart come to life
Drawn forth, breathe from Above.
Words of spirit and life, or death
Anchor fast to reveal
Obscure not the truth with falsehood
Let me pierce my heart to feel.
Captivate the depth of sorrow
Grip the mournful zeal
Go beyond the surface writing
Bleed the heart if you will.
Prompt the inner writer to craft
The gripping thread of words
Toil, create, challenge right judgment
Echo writing heart’s chords.
Suffer not excellent writing
Pinch not to beggarly
For fame and of trifle pittance
Guard with wisdom, my plea.
The gift to write, the call impressed
He beckons me, writer
To employ pure, sound principles
I must work hard. Listen. Grow. Learn.
A lowly writer, I’m compelled
Stayed in His hallowed Hand
Rejoicings of my writing heart
Kept in His secret plan.
“Grant me grace, blessed Lord, I pray;
Draw me in Your presence
Guide me closely true to Your way
Teach me each moment’s praise.
Keep me to attend to Your Word
Teach me to understand
Truth and grace perfected with love
Frame my writing at hand.
Speak to my writing- heart the songs-
Kind words when I despair
Move me, Lord, with wisdom to write
Words filled with tender care.
Inspire my writing- heart to toil
Where I must persevere
Help me, flourish this gift to write
Lord, be my Overseer.”
