Today when I hear the words hide and seek, they have a very different meaning. I used to hide from God but because of His wondrous all encompassing love He was always seeking me. God never forces His will on any of His children. He permits us the right to choose which direction our lives will go. God wooed me for many years and in His infinite wisdom, He permitted me to hit the lowest rung on the ladder of life. I was in danger of hell fire and damnation and I called out Help me. He heard my cry, reached down, and picked me up. God gave me enough time to realize that I truly needed Him. Now all I can do is praise and thank Him for saving a wretch like me.
Adam and Eve hide from God after they partook of the forbidden fruit. God knew where they were but He called out to them. They took leaves and covered themselves because they knew they were naked. God did not hate them but He was disappointed in them. Yes, God did punish them by removing them from the Garden of Eden but He never forsook them. When Christ hung on the cross between two thieves one thief reviled Him. The other thief asked forgiveness and Christ told him he would be with Him in paradise that day.
We may hide from God but He never stops seeking a relationship with His children. Even on our deathbeds some cry out to Him and He hears our heart felt cry for forgiveness. In that instance, we are reunited with Him. Father, I thank you for a love that I cannot understand or even begin to comprehend. We may run and hide but You always seek.
