It seemed like lots of fun.
I watched the mighty ocean
As I soaked up the sun.
I sipped a frosty soft drink
As I watched girls stroll by.
My eyes were shaded from the sun
So I could watch the sky.
I watched some tennis players
Some children played in sand.
From radios around me
I heard a salsa band.
Sand castles rose below me.
They made a lovely sight.
And Frisbees flew right by me.
I even saw a kite!
The Boardwalk beckoned to me
With games and food nearby.
My visions of its wonders
Brought a contented sigh.
The sun had turned my hair blonde.
I darkened up my tan.
My muscles gleamed with baby oil.
The girls sighed, “what a man!”
I smelled the salty ocean.
I heard the waves crash down.
I watched that beach for danger;
On my watch, none would drown.
I ruled that sandy kingdom.
That beach stayed safe and fun
I was a master lifeguard
The Sultan of the Sun.
My dream made it seem tempting.
I didn’t want to rise.
I wanted to keep dreaming
About those sunny skies.
When morning came, I saddened.
To see my dream go dim.
But I can’t be a lifeguard
Until I learn to swim!
