Why is it that we thank God for the sunshine and when He provides it in abundance, we complain and ask for rain? When He sends the rain, we enjoy it for a short while but it isn't long before we beg for the sunshine. Likewise, there are periods of time when our workload may be less productive, and then we whine when we become too busy and have no spare time for ourselves.
How patient our Heavenly Father is with us. How childish and selfish we can be... I can be. In my heart I know how I have been so richly blessed, yet I still manage to find a reason to feel sorry for myself. I might find myself in a pit of depression because the number on the bathroom scale dared to be higher than what I anticipated. Shame on me as I watch on television a mother in anguish because the infant she wasn't able to feed has died. God, please forgive me.
Even then I know He understands. In the Bible we read there is a season and a time for every purpose under heaven, (Ecclesiastes 3:1), and that our lives are mere vapors... (James 4:14) here today, gone tomorrow. Many times, also in Ecclesiastes, it is said that ‘all is vanity and grasping for the wind’. Yes, He understands us very well.
While it is still today, let me say "Thank You", my dear Father. I am richly blessed beyond my own understanding, and I am truly grateful for this life you have given me. When tomorrow comes, and the rain clouds are billowing above me, please help me to remember that sunshine is on the horizon, in heavenly and eternal abundance.
Selah.
