The time that has past
Has been the story of my own hand
My voice, stretched and inked, across the parchment of used time
Laboring in the center of my genius, masterfully, I scripted all out
Careful to etch my desires and passions and dreams
Never scratching to rewrite
Words placed best upon the page for I, the character, to play
Chapters came, and chapters came to close
The pen now searching
For allusions that eluded this tale
Among the ties left hanging in hopeless rows, tattered upon my page
Cascading was the descent into despair
Fingers still grasping the Masterpiece
Written of my life and its days, falling
Until the day the Letter came
“You are not the Writer,”
The lines lavished in brilliant light,
“For the tale you tell is
Hardly of Life
I am the Writer,
My pen resting captive inside your palm
Is the holder of beauty no mind and soul birthed
Could comprehend and create
These pages are Mine
And you, Child, are scripted as Blessed
A hopeful part to play;
Place the ink upon my hand and heaven eternal shall open to sing
Melodies of amber fire blazing glory atop the skies
Lovers, o valiant lovers, whose kisses capture teardrops
Streams on meadow-side, laughter in lilies white,
Verses of sunset and the strength of hope to become
Mountains that beckon and call at command
Fields blowing golden with rich blossomed joy
Summer’s breath from heaven’s very bosom
Into beautiful dawn
You see, my child,
The story is incomplete
And this pen lies still upon the stained page
For I am the Writer
And you the Reader
