you catch a glimpse
of something extraordinary,
like a delicate flower
flourishing
against the odds,
reaching out to spring,
through the smallest crack
of a heavily traveled
paved
parking lot.
Like love surviving
the tar and weight
of abuse,
the trampling of feelings,
to bloom again
through a minuscule
sliver of hope
reaching
for new beginning.
Occasionally,
you witness a miracle,
like a little nest
of bird's eggs,
nestled
in a spindly tree,
surviving, unharmed
spring’s stormy tantrum
that ripped apart
surrounding,
sturdier branches.
Like the tiny
fragile
simple faith
that will not be uprooted
by life’s storm
that topples
high-minded
and
powerful.
Occasionally,
as spring transforms
yards and fields
of grass blades,
from deathly hues
to glorious greens,
we take the time
to realize
the complex mind of God
giving the world
its greatest wisdom,
from the lowest place,
in uncomplicated form.
Jesus,
our eternal spring,
transformer of
death
into
glory.
