I’ve felt like a stranger
Living on a foreign soil.
It’s weird,
Because it seems as though
I’ve lived here all my life.
Remember?
No, I have no memory
Of any other home or land.
My
Parents often shared with me,
Of this homeland far away --
My home!
From childhood I’ve been told
My kindred all are there.
I was taught
That life is so much better
Far away across the sea.
Oh,
I easily remember
When I was only seven.
That day,
My brother crossed the sea
To our ancestor’s home.
Weirdly strange.
It not once occurred to me.
That I’d long to go there too.
This
land where I have lived so long
This great land where I have grown --
Matured.
Where I have labored hard
And raised my family.
Go away?
No, the only home I wanted
Was this home I know right here.
My,
Mother left some years ago
To rejoin the son she missed.
Then, when
Father went to join Mom,
I was not at all surprised.
He went home.
He often talked of going.
It was his heart’s true desire.
But,
Then my darling daughter left
Well I was greatly grieved --
Distressed!
And I began to long
That I might be there too.
My homeland.
I longed to see my homeland,
And my loved ones who’ve gone home.
I’m
making sure my family
Know all about their homeland.
Making
Sure they know the ruler,
And the great price he paid -
Sacrificed;
To invite them home to live
In the house he has prepared.
So,
I’ll wait in expectation,
For a gilded invitation
From the
King of that great country
Telling me to come on home,
To my home.
To that homeland reunion,
Where dear loved ones wait for me.
