One Sunday morning, two months into his new life as a Christian, Scott Matthews knelt at the alter, humbly praying to the Lord for direction in his life.
“Dear God you are my Master, my teacher, my guide. Take me; use my life to serve you God.” He began his earnest prayer to the Father.
Scott had just finished high school with three full scholarships that would pay for everything. He was a good student with an on fire attitude for God and made it known to everyone that knew him. Now coming to a point in his young life where one decision would shape his future, heard a call within his heart, answering without a moments hesitation.
When he finished praying, Scott walked back to the pew where his mother and father stood singing the hymn of invitation. A wide grin curved their son’s lips as he nodded to them before praying as the preacher closed the service.
Once the Matthew’s family arrived at their home, Scott asked them if he could talk with them about something that had been on his mind for quiet awhile. Alex and Lisa Matthews knew this was something important to their son by the expression upon his handsome face.
“Sure son!” Alex said as they entered into the family room. Lisa was so proud of Scott; he had always presented himself in a Christian like manner and knew that whatever job he was given it would be done wholeheartedly.
Sitting in front of them Scott took a deep breath and began to explain what he felt the Lord was calling him to do. “I feel like God is leading me into the missionary field. For the past month my prayer to my heavenly Father has been to direct me in the path of service for you. I want to work for my Jesus.” He began then paused for a moment allowing his parents to absorb what he had told them.
Both Alex and Lisa had tears streaming down their cheeks as God spoke to their son. It would be hard to see Scott go far away if that was indeed the calling, but through their son’s testimony and faith the lives saved would be just reward.
When Scott finished, both his mother and father hugged him tight “We are so proud of you son. Working for God is the best job anyone could have. It is our duty to witness to the lost and show them, through Jesus we are forgiven and can receive eternal life upon accepting him as their Lord and Savior.”
The Evening of Scott Matthews graduation from College as a missionary, he knew the choice had been right and now it was time to go work for GOD.
