Expectedly, the landlord gave her four weeks to either pay the rent or leave. It was meant to be paid at the beginning of each year but two months had passed without it being paid due to Sara's fees in the University. She trusted God, believed he would take care of the rent irrespective of the number of weeks given to meet it.
Two weeks went by. The landlord informed her of his plan on using the house for agricultural purpose; as a point of storing tubers and grains. Several parts of the building would be reconstructed.
The bell sounded clearly when he cancelled the fourth week, leaving Sara with one week left to leave the building and hand the keys to the owner. That would mean she relocate!
One week? How am I going to get a new house in a week?"
Thoughts came running into her head and doubt seemed to overcome her faith in God. She felt it would be nice if she called her best friend, Sharon Messr who lived few miles away. There was certainly no way she could meet those needs in a week.
At least, that's what she thought.
You know, there are moments when we think our needs are ours to meet. Those times when we try to meet them, our ways don't work or produce any result at all.
Even if she knew there are twenty-four hours in a day, and that it doesn't take God anything to feed all the birds in the world, it was the hardest lesson she could grasp at the moment. Her circumstance was the prevalent force in her life as she couldn't see past the fact that her Father is able to supply all her needs in his riches (Philippians 4:19).
Sharon Messrs, an old friend who lived miles away from Sara's residence, dropped by two days before she was to evacuate from the building. She heard her friend's story and the landlord's intention to transform the building into a storehouse for tubers and grains. Lovingly, she encouraged her friend never to take her eyes off of the Lord's face and continually trust him to do as he promised in his word.
That was an encouragement to Sara who danced about the room, singing and dancing; thanking God for his promises.
You know, thanksgiving touches God's heart to have Him do what you asked of him; and many times, what you never even asked of him.
Sara believed her new house had been paid for by God even when she hadn't seen it in the physical. Already, she was notified about the next day which implied that she may be dragged off to court to face the shame involved.
It was only few hours after the call from the landlord that her cellphone rang. The voice seemed familiar. It was her darling uncle Johnny who reside in Scotland due to commercial reasons.
Why did he call? She wondered. He hasn't phoned many months now.
Uncle Johnny was known for the method of case-presentation. Sara, the house you live in is less ventilated. Do you mind relocating to a new one I bought you?
New one? The house had been bought, not rented, so Sara would love undisturbed and easily think only about her studies.
On the day she was to relocate to the house God had bought for her, she wrote a diary on God's reward to those who trust him, irrespective of the timing. He's neither late nor early and meet needs at the right time.
We just need to BE and let him DO everything in his plan as we trust him to.
