An evil finger appeared when Laide accused Leye, her husband, of infidelity. She fingered his secretary in his recent late arrivals from office.
Every attempt by Leye to prove his innocence and that it was the office workload that was responsible proved futile.
A few weeks latter, she moved all her belongings into a rented apartment to live with their two children.
What followed was a divorce letter served Leye to appear in court in three weeks' time.
He then contacted his lawyer to appear on his behalf and do all within his power to ensure that the children were taken away from her custody and possibly be taken to an orphanage.
His father-in-law heard that Leye had hired a legal practitioner to confront his daughter and was infuriated. He immediately instructed his lawyers to take necessary action.
They wasted no time to do so!
Leye's father heard and wanted an out of court settlement of the matter unsuccessfully. He then decided to support his son so long his son's in-laws were not ready to play ball. He employed the service of a team of lawyers to ensure that his son won the case, even if they would never be husband and wife again.
All legal delays, tactics and antics were employed by both opposing sides to outwit each other.
The case dragged for a decade and a half unresolved.
The last of the four Judges that heard the case one day said, adjusting his thick pair of glasses with his left hand, " I have taken my time to go through the files of this case and come to conclude that it had taken too much time. So, I will give my final verdict next week Thursday."
The court session came to an end for that day.
On Sunday preceeding the proposed day of judgment, the twin bothers became sick and their school authority carried them in an ambulance to a General Hospital when the school clinic could not give them the needed treatment.
The Principal called their parents to meet them in the hospital. Leye and Laide met in a special room reserved for all emergency cases involving students of that college. Laide sat near Taye; Leye stood near Kehinde. They tried to avoid eye contact because they have not met in that kind of environment for long.
The teenagers simultaneously opened their eyes and saw their parents near them. Their eyes journeyed from one parent to another.
Their was a perfect silence as a Nurse was busy looking at the files of the two patients.
Satisfied, she left.
Taye broke the silence with, " You brought this on us because we have no peaceful home where we can go during holidays. Another six-week vacation is coming now. As usual, are we staying behind in the hostel as other students are preparing to visit their happy homes?"
"It is a shame that the two of you have been logged in an unresolved legal battle since our childhood until now. It is sad that you go to church! Apostle Paul says, 'I am saying this to shame you. Isn't there anyone in all the church who is wise enough to decide these issues? But instead, a believer sues another- right in front of unbelievers!' " Kehinde added, laying his left hand on the hospital Bible placed on a small table near his bed.
Those words were like rockets. They penetrated the hearts of Leye and Laide who looked at each other intimately, moved and embraced as they chorussed, "My dear, I am sorry. I have wounded your heart and those of our children."
The twins were discharged a few hours later.

On the judgment day, the court was filled to capacity with Lawyers and other people awaiting a landmark verdict.
On that day, one thing was missing: it was the custom for Leye and Laide to come in company of their different group of Lawyers into court premises but that day, they arrived before their clients.
As people were discussing before court sitting began, a chauffeur-driven car appeared and was pulled up.
The driver came out to open the car doors for the occupants sitting on the rear seat: they were Leye and Laide holding hands and dressed in the same type of attire.
