When we first think of the word we, of course, think of seeing with our eyes.
We leave our home early in the morning hoping to SEE a beautiful sunrise or perhaps the first rose blooming on the bush by the front door. It is early morning. The red rose is sparkling against the brilliant green leaves as the dew drops slide down each petal. Each dewdrop catches a sunbeam and glistens with light. What a beautiful sight, taken for granted by those of us with eyes that See, yet recognized also as a miraculous gift from our Heavenly Father.
The lady next door also has a need to See the sunrise, however, she sees it differently than we as she steps into the warmth of the sun and feels the sun rising by the tingle of heat that increases as the sun rises higher and higher into the sky. She stands smiling peacefully as she imagines the sight in her mind that she is no longer able to see with her eyes. She silently praises the Lord for creating the sun above to heat her world.
For me, the most wonderful gift of seeing is when we are allowed to see God’s love and mercy in the actions of one human to another. Each time we reach out to help a person in need, we allow others to see God’s love through our actions. When we feel the need to donate our time, money or belongings to those who have none, we See how wonderful it is to let God protect and care for those around us by giving us the desire to reach out and touch someone.
So it seems to me that we see what God wants us to see when we feel in our hearts that we must “Feed His sheep”.
