The man driving the car said, " Someone is going to Pay for this car or Go to Jail!'
The woman pointed at Mary 's tall play boy friend, Kenneth saying, "It was You who hit my car!"
Fear was upon Kenneth as he cried out, " It Wasn't Me!"
Kenneth's mom, Helen a barber was cutting a client's hair at the time; came out of her house to see what all the commotion was about, forgetting to put her scissors down.
When the woman saw Helen coming she then pointed at Mary and said, "It was You!"
Mary was so frighten no words came out. Mary saw the look in Kenneth's eyes and the eyes of
others around- the look it was her.
There was a baseball game in progress before the car cruise through. Mary couldn't play well, so
she and her new friend Carrie frolic around on the curb playing with gravel- in a contest of low ground throwing- who can throw the farthest.
The police arrived and Mary was in trouble, she was afraid and couldn't speak. Now the woman and the police was talking to her parents.
When Mary met Carrie, Carrie said to Mary, "We will be friends Forever and must share everything and never break our Promise Pledge!
Mary and Carriie chanted, "Promise Pledge!, Promise Pledge! " and the two twelve years old girls sealed their Promise Pledge with right hand to right hand pinky fingers lock.
Mary always had money and things and shared all she had. Carrie never seem to have anything to share, except this one time Mary saw her eating candy. Mary didn't really want any candy and when she saw the reluctant look of sharing in Carrie's eyes she shrugged it off. Mary really didn't need a pledge and didn't think Carrie had to share everything to be her friend.
In all the excitement Mary didn't know Carrie had left untill the boy who alway come and watch them play ball said, " It was Carrie who hit the car; She took off running after she hit the car."
Mary didn't believe that Carrie hit the car, she thought to herself , 'If she ran off it was only because she got scared.' Mary was by the curb looking down the storm drain and didn't see who hit the car or when Carrie left.
The boy told the police that he live next door to Carrie and went with them to her house.
Carrie said she didn't hit the car and said it was another girl, but later admit she hit the car, but didn't mean to.
In life there seem to be individuals always around, but no one seem to notice them at all; A good friend they may have become to someone- Maybe good as well at the sports they are sometimes not asked to play.
Mary went to visit Carrie to see how she was. Carrie had found a new friend and wasn't interested in talking to her and her sister turned Mary away. Tears poured from Mary eyes when she asked herself this question, "Did Carrie and I have a real friendship or was it just a contest season of her Sharing everything?"
Mary grieved not seeing Carrie anymore and didn't understand why they couldn't be friends still.
A new girl came to Mary's school, her name was Edith Bell. Mary and Edith became faithful friends, and not a friendship based only in receiving things.
In the game of life friends will come and leave. Left are life lessons stored inside and the Essence of the sweet memories of the friends we had. Enclosed is Forgiveness and Faith to carry on untill a real friend arrive.
