Topic: Uncles/Aunts (04/17/08)
What do we learn from our uncles and aunts? Well most of the time they teach use what a crazy family we have. My mom’s Aunt Jo demonstrated this to me on many occasions. Once she decided to get the oil out of Uncle Blue’s overalls so she put a little gasoline in with the wash cycle. That would have been a good idea except the rinse cycle didn’t work like it should have so there was still some gas left in them when she put them in the dryer. The hooks on the overalls apparently caused a little friction during the drying and that caused just enough spark to blow the dryer out into the back yard. Being an optimistic woman, she said the new laundry room was much nicer than the one she blew up.
Aunt Jo loved to fish. She had a little lake not far from the back of the house and a little fishing boat to take her out to the middle where the big catfish were. One spring day after a pleasant morning of fishing she was almost to shore when for some reason the boat tipped over and dumped her into the water. Soaking wet but unhurt, she went home. She never locked her house so she went into the new laundry room through the back door, stripped off her wet clothes and proceded to her bedroom. Because she never locked the house she found her nephew and his wife sitting in the living room waiting for her. Being a practical woman, she said, “Shut your eyes and your mouths. I’ll be right back.”
Isaiah 41:4 talks about how God has called forth the generations. God worked personally in Aunt Jo’s life. Though she had no children of her own, she touched the lives of many nieces and nephews who enriched the lives of their children with Aunt Jo’s antics. I love my crazy family!

Cute story! You have lots of words left--tell us how Aunt Jo looks, what she wears (before she undresses!). Give us more of Aunt Jo's dialogue. She is a wonderfully funny character that you can expand. This is a fun read.
