But Lord, You already know.
I make a mess and have to pay
And I also reap what I sow.
I cannot write much of a poem
When a resting place I lack.
My heart’s alone so far from home -
God, I just want to come back.
“Why are you downcast, soul of mine?”
Thus with him of old I cry.
I look up heavenward and whine,
I can’t stand this. Let me die!
“Oh my dear child,” Christ then replies.
Pruning’s for those who bear fruit.
I won’t fail You, I hear your cries.
Abide in Me, the Vine - the Root.
“Always rejoice,” Christ says to me.
Remember Silas and Paul -
Though chained, in their hearts they were free.
Take heart, there’s no need to fall.
Hearing God’s voice I lift my head
Though my heart’s tired and sore.
It’s rough and hard, this road I tread,
I feel quite lonely and poor.
So Lord Jesus, help me please.
Cleanse my heart and make me whole.
I plead with You upon my knees,
Loving Lord, come heal my soul.
I’ll choose to quit my moping ways -
Bow in joy before Your throne,
And in Your eyes of Love I’ll gaze
Until more like You I’ve grown.
Then when I see You face to face,
All my earthly cares forgot -
And resting Lord, in Your grace
I’ll stand confident, Blood bought!
