WE NEED TO TALK

She handed me a note that said
“We really need to talk...”
I don't want to talk to you, I thought.
I know what you will say.
You’ll tell me again about the Life, the Truth, the Way.

Many times we had talked before
and every time I had closed the door.
I do not want to hear how Jesus died for me.
Don't bother me, I just want to be free.
Free to live my life the way I please.
I do not need Jesus or anyone else telling me what to do.
I cannot be like you.
You are always so goody, goody. You never do anything wrong.
I am here to let you know I am simply not that strong!
You have it all together, but I just want to have fun.
I don't have time to hear about Jesus, God's only begotten Son!
I ignored her note that day and stubbornly went my own way.

The accident was sudden, there was no time to think.
I should not have had that one, last drink.
Now I am standing before Jesus and I hear Him sadly say;
“Sorry I never knew you, now you may go your way.”
This is the path that you have chosen and now your time is done.
All you really needed was Me, God's only Son.
I ignored the note that day, the message left unheeded
If only I would have realized that Jesus was all I needed.
If right now I could change it all,
I would give to the lost one last call. A chance to change your life, your walk.

A note that says, we need to talk...

This really brings home the point that you not only need to share Jesus with others but sometimes we do not get a second chance to receive Jesus. Take the opportunity when you can. Don't wait!

A thought-provoking piece that I appreciate you sharing.

Wow! That is my highest praise. I absolutely love that way you handled the topic in this piece. I think this is an excellent example of writing on topic. If we were to take away the note and any line relating to it, your article would crumple, so it shows how well on topic this poem is. Next, we have the beginning which is a great draw. I wanted to read more. Your transition from one part to the next was smooth and your ending, though haunting, really makes the reader open her eyes. This is an exquisite bit of poetry so again I say Wow!
