Okay, that’s not too weird, or, is it?
How do I ready myself to write? Perhaps this is way off the beaten path as I require just the right kind of music – usually Native American or classical Christian choirs with full orchestra. Having the full orchestra and the voices of 300 people help dredge up the drama in my spirit.
I like my desk free of clutter and crumbs and love to lay out either newly purchased ink pens or just a collection of colored pens – you know, so I can see the colors on the writing pad. About now you’re asking, why don’t you use your computer? Good question – I do use my computer after I jot down ideas and goals for the day.
The most unusual way I prepare myself for the next great novel is to wear a hat. Uh-huh, that’s right! A hat. I have a leather Australian-style cowboy/girl hat that must be on top of my head or all the good stuff stays hidden in my soul.
Yes, let’s not forget to pray and ask God for direction before writing, however, God made us all unique - and relaxing and even enjoying our own quirkiness is a key ingredient to creativity.
Oh, I’ve forgotten one other thing – my desk must be next to a window so I can watch the birds, movement of the trees, and any other critter that graces my yard.
