I stood gazing at the rough hewn cross
Watching as the sky at noon grew immensely dark
No thunder rocked the earth on which I stood
No lightning flashed the darkness away
As I stood guard at the cross that day
Silent weeping was all around me
Mingled with the crowd’s jeering sounds
Are they so anxious for this kill?
That they cannon see the world is dark
From noon now it’s almost three
How can this irregularity be I gaze
To the cross where upon hearing
His last breath
I watched Him sag on torturing nails
He fell giving up His own life
I feel the eeriness that has surrounded me
And I began to shake
Once silent the ground begins to roar its rage
People tumble and run in dismay
I try to remain standing before this man
I now know is the King
What have I done what I have seen
Up from the graveyard across the hill
I see the dead part the earth and rise ALIVE
Walking into town I cannot utter
A word not even a sound
What have I done what have I seen
What does this miracle mean to me
Am I too late now to enter heavens gate
The followers of this man called Christ
Stumble home their days done
With the crucifixion of God’s only Son
Leaving me to stand unforgiven and all alone
I gaze silently at this figure on the cross
And I realize now He died for me
I am the one HE IS GOD’S SON
